Koryolink: North Korea’s New 3G Cellular Network

http://my-korea.info

A short video report from the launch of North Korea’s first ‘public’ cell phone carrier Koryolink – a joint venture company of Egyptian Orascom (75%) and North Korean government (25%). I don’t think regular DPRK citizens can afford getting a cell phone from this company. It’s an interesting video, though. The picture quality and style kind of looks like a report from Czechoslovak first cellular network launch back in 1990, except people in Czechoslovakia were actually able to get those phones with no special effort. Please note that I’m not that kind of guy who supports North Korean government’s policies like some communists over here at YouTube; I just want to let people know what authentic North Korean videos look like.

How could a 3G network be shut down in one blow?

I am currently working on a science fiction novel in which the vast majority of the world communicates with a single electronic device similar to an iPad, which operates on a 3g network. The climax of the book will be when a rogue character shuts down the entire network, causing electronic communication all over the world to immediately fail. Based on what you know of 3G technology, is there any one thing the character could destroy that would accomplish this?

Reference: escape from L.A. where Snake Blisken activates some electro thing to shut down all technology.

You can make up whatever you want. An EMP would work well.

Can i use a 4g phone on a regular network?

Can I use a 4g phone thingy from sprint on a regular network or does it have to be 4g network? And what would happen if i did use a 4g phone on a regular network.

Thanks in advance for your help

A sprint phone can only be used on sprint unless it’s flashed.
