i dunno wic network it is..It uses "3prepaid" sim compatible with 4G network..my handset model is SGH-F480i Samsung touch series
it is GSM for sure!
4G? Your going to have to be more specific.. Is this Sprint’s Advertised 4g network? Or do you know if its UMTS, GSM, CDMA, or LTE?? Normally international carriers use the UMTS and GSM..

I’ve seen so many videos about japan and how much more advanced they are than america. They already have video calling but we barely have widespread 3g networks.
What advances are we going to see in usa related to cell phone technology in the near future? Camera phones so good you can use them as a standalone camera? 4g? Innovative designs?
all of those that you mentioned and more, but who knows when.

In simple explanation, What is the difference between the 3 Generation Network, the 2 Generation Network, and the other Networks in mobile phone networks
Simple, 3G is much faster and better for loading internet pages. 2G, also called Edge [?] is slower for internet pages and stuff
GSM is the network that requires SIM cards.

This is because it’s a different, newer and more sophisticated technology. 3G is an entirely new technology on different frequencies, it’s not really the "new" version after 2G. Compare the two articles below, each is well written on 2G and 3G and discuss some differences between the two.

I see advertised 3G network I want to know what it is.
3G stands for "3rd Generation"
The 3g network is the "3rd Generation" of mobile phone network. The first, or "1G", were analog networks common in the 80s and 90s.
In the late 90s, "2G", or "Digital" networks became more commonplace. Digital networks enabled features like internet, text messaging, picture messaging, etc… but the 2G networks were not very fast.
Today, we have "3G" networks in many areas. 3G expands on the 2g networks by offering much higher speeds, upwards of 14mbps in some instances. Additionally, many 3G networks allow simultaneous use of voice and data, whereby you can browse the internet and talk on a phone at the same time, something not available on 2G networks.
4g networks are currently under development, which will take the data speeds to an even new level.
Hope this helps!

If so, how well does it work? I currently have the T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009 which is under the 3g network. I want to buy the iPhone 3G, but I need to make sure that it won’t run slow, and most importantly, that my plans (my faves, unlimited text messaging, unlimited internet browsing) will still work correctly. Help? Thanks!
It will only be able to run on T-mobiles EDGE network, not 3G. This is because t-mobile and at&t use slightly different technologies for their 3G networks.
The HTC Hero is a new android phone that will be coming out for t-mobile soon and has 3G. It is similar in size and shape to the iphone, and runs android which is a great platform.
You can read a review on the HTC Hero here: http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/23/htc-hero-review/

I thought that mac’s apple computers would be able to use 3G like the iphone does, but i’ve never been able to verify. i also heard that there was a computer that actually broadcasts its own WiFi, is that true?
going to point something out to you
iPHONE, PHONE, CELLULAR DEVICE, used to ring people, text people, an whatever else you wanna do on its limited capacity of the phone
Apple Mac COMPUTER, DESIGNED TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE HARDWARE AN SOFTWARE
if youve got the hardware, i.e. usb dongle from whatever service provider, plug it in, and your sorted
an broadcasting its own wifi, there are computers with wifi cards built in, just how a laptop does, if thats what you mean

I keep seeing Sprint commercials saying they have the only 3g network..but, then I saw a Verizon commercial saying the same thing. Why does it matter and what the heck is it?
3G allows customers of 3G optimized networks with 3G compatible phones to surf the internet on the phones faster, and allows for somewhat better phone service/call quality.
It matters only if use the internet on your phone regularly.
Sprint is not the only carrier with 3G. AT&T, Verizon and others have 3G service. Please do not forget that commercials are aimed to glorify the company and/or its product and usually hide the truth.
The whole 3G craze was boosted when the new iPhone 3G came out. It is not that dire to have.
