Should I get the iPhone 2G or 3G ?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I am planning on getting an iPhone, but Im not sure on which one to get. Should I get the iPhone 2G (the original one) or the iPhone 3G ? Please don’t compare it by networking. I would like to see your opinion. Thanks !

I’m currently using the original iPhone, and I don’t have any big complaints. It works great! The 3g network would be nice, but on WiFi it’s really fast, and if I’m using the EDGE network, it’s slower but just the convenience of being able to get online anywhere makes up for it to me.

One specific thing that the 3G has that I wish my iPhone had is a normal headphone jack. The original iPhone has a recessed headphone jack, meaning basically you either use the headphones that come with it, or you have to buy an adapter so that other headphones will plug in correctly. The new iPhone has a normal headphone jack. That would be nice! :)

If I were you, though, I’d go ahead and get the 3G. Especially if you’re going through AT&T and want to get a plan and everything. They’ve got the 3Gs in store already, plus they have built in GPS and come in the larger 16GB version.

If you’re looking to buy one on eBay (or some other method, but not through AT&T) then it depends on how much you want to spend. Both are high, especially without a contract, but you might have better luck finding the original at a lower price than the newer 3G.

That being said, I’ll upgrade to the 3G when I can but I love my original iPhone. I think you’ll be happy either way you go.

In case you want to check it out, here’s a link to AT&Ts comparison between the iPhone and the iPhone 3g:

Hope this helps! :)

I need some important incite on Ipod Touch details?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

This is a very important question for me, as I have been thinking about this for quite a long time now. I have saved up around five hundred dollars over the last month, and was wondering if I should buy an Ipod touch. I have always wanted one since its launch, but didn’t have the money for it. I now have more than enough money. Here is the catch though. I am well aware that a "supposed" new ipod touch (3rd gen.) is on its way to the market, and also that there is a new iphone that is in development. This iphone may make it to the Verizon wireless market because of Verizon’s upcoming 4g network, but still is unlikely because of AT&T renewing their contract. I have an idea in my head that near after the Apple conference in September, the new devices will be unveiled. I just want some of your opinions on what you think I should do….

Much help is appreciated. I hope I didn’t waste your time. Thank you.

well, i would wait, and see what comes out. i have an ipod touch, i absolutely hate it. it always freezes and shuts off and is always low on battery "/
i would wait for something new :D
i doubt the iphone will come to verizon though.
i hope i helped :D

How do I jailbreak and unlock my iPhone 2g?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Alright, I already have it Jailbroken and was wondering if i need to unlock it. I am with AT&T and i was wondering if i still had to unlock the phone even if i were to use it on the AT&T network. I want to avoid paying the monthly data plan so do i have to unlock it too?

There is no reason to unlock the iPhone unless you are going to use it on another network besides AT&T. Please go to hackthatphone.com for more info.

Also note that it is not a good idea to jailbreak or unlock your iPod Touch or iPhone with out knowing what you are doing and can violate your warranty and/or brick your iPod Touch or iPhone if something goes wrong (which it sometimes does).

Will the Sony Xperia X1 work on American wireless 3g network?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I’m planning on purchasing this phone later this month unlocked from a vendor a year prior to the official north american release. I know the phone itself will work with T-mobile or AT&T it’s a SIM phone. I’m just wondering if the wireless 3g internet will work in north america?

In US, T-Mobile uses 1700MHz and 2100MHz to implement HSPA 3G, and AT&T uses 850 and 1900MHz for their HSPA 3G network. To support 3G, the phone has to support both frequencies – so just having one is not enough.

If you look at the press release from Sony about the X1 here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/corporate/press/pressreleases/pressreleasedetails/key.PressResource.Global_X1-20080210

And scroll down to the bottom, it says it will support all of the above. So the answer is yes, it will work on either AT&T or T-Mobile’s US 3g network.

Iphone on Verizon give me your opinions!!!?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Rumor has it that Verizon may be getting the iphone in 2010 i would like that especially haha because i have verizon i have been reading and reading about this and hear that verizons 4g network will be done before at&t’s approximately 1 to 2 years before and before you all say iphone isnt cdma compatible, 4g is lte totally different than cdma or gsm all carriers will eventually use lte…. so enough about that i wanna know everyones inputs on the whole situation should apple and verizon work something out? i believe they should and i think vcast sucks so they should make an app for it and let customers choose the iphone is perfect as it is so dont mess it up verizon just accept it!!!! and i most definitally will buy it

Once iPhone comes out in an LTE version (so called 4G) and Verizon has their LTE network running for both voice and data, which will be about the same EXACT time that AT&T has theirs ready (Verizon’s LTE will start rolling out earlier, but for data only) then you will see iPhones for both AT&T, Verizon and any other network running LTE on the same frequencies (world wide).

Much of the rumors you see, however, are for a CDMA version of the iPhone. This is highly unlikely since CDMA is on its way out in a few years and it is also a very old technology. It would be like Apple putting a 286 processor in the next iMac.

What’s the difference between 3G & 4G cell phone carriers?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

AT&T and Verizon are always bragging about having the better 3G coverage and Sprint is already on the 4G network…so why dont they move to 4G as well?

4G stands for 4th generation cell phone network. The 3rd generation network carried broadband speeds, like a dsl or cable modem. The 2nd generation network has slower speeds more like a dial-up modem.

The 4g network is supposed to bring much higher speeds than already exist for the 3g network – the kind of speed you might find at a university computer lab, or the speed of communications between computers in a LAN network. It features speeds in the 100,000-1,000,000 kilobit (100-1000 Mbit) range, or about 20x as fast as 3G.

Downloads would be nearly instantaneous, and really large files such as a CD or DVD worth of data can be downloaded in less than a minute. And that might be worth it if you download Huge amounts of data (or for instance HD video) on a regular basis, and you’re not happy with 3G speeds.

What does 3G network mean from the cell phone carriers?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I have an AT&T phone that has a 3G network and I have been seeing a lot about the 3g network on the commercials. I have no idea what a 3G network is. Can someone please enlighten me. Thank you.

3G means third generation phones. The very simple explanation to this kind of phones is that it will enable you to not only hear the voice of the person you are speeking to , but also SEE him live..provided ofcourse both the perosns have a 3G phone and 3G enabled network

AT&T Smart phone search?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

okay, so im really sick of my iPhone 3G (8GB) because Apple comes out with a new phone every year and you want that phone instead because its way better for the same price, and Apple doesn’t give a crap about their customers. I want a smart phone with:

good camera (3MP or higher with video)
music
QWERTY keyboard
Internet
3G/4g network
it would be nice to have GPS but its not a necessity in my search
so if anyone can find a phone with all those requirements that would be so cool.

On AT&T’s network, a 3MP camera is tough to come by; I don’t think one has been launched with that quality of camera. The Samsung EPIX (i907) would come fairly close, with a 2MP camera (about as good as you’ll find with ATT), has a QWERTY keypad, touchscreen, decent web browsing capability (Internet Explorer comes stock, but 3rd party browsers like Skyfire, currently in Beta, are available for a richer experience); it’s also 3G capable, and has GPS built-in, and can handle music fairly well (played through Windows Media Player on the device); the form factor is very similar to the Blackjack/Blackjack II, to give an idea. The HTC Fuze has similar functionality, but the keyboard on it is a slide-out keyboard underneath the screen.

my unlocked iphone 2g keeps saying searching for network… help please?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

my iphone is unlocked with a t-mobile sim in it but ever since yesterday it keeps saying searching network but i took my sim out i reset all networks and everything shut it off and on but it stil says the same thing like its not picking up my sim card anymore and idk why it works cause i put it in my friends phone and my iphone is not broken in any way… it says i need to restore it in itunes but then that will make my phone not unlocked anymore right? and deletes all my numbers???

It kinda sounds like something is wrong with your SIM since you said you put in your friend’s own & it worked normal. I suggest taking the SIM to them & explaining your problem.
Actually as I think about it I 1st suggest to try your SIM in a regular T-Mobile phone if you have one available.

If you do restore your phone yes it will loose the unlock & yes it will delete all your numbers but both are easily recoverable with blackra1n & a backup respectively.

Does the unlocked iPhone 3G work on the T-Mobile Network?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

If so, how well does it work? I currently have the T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009 which is under the 3g network. I want to buy the iPhone 3G, but I need to make sure that it won’t run slow, and most importantly, that my plans (my faves, unlimited text messaging, unlimited internet browsing) will still work correctly. Help? Thanks!

It will only be able to run on T-mobiles EDGE network, not 3G. This is because t-mobile and at&t use slightly different technologies for their 3G networks.
The HTC Hero is a new android phone that will be coming out for t-mobile soon and has 3G. It is similar in size and shape to the iphone, and runs android which is a great platform.
You can read a review on the HTC Hero here: http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/23/htc-hero-review/
