I am planning on getting an iPhone, but Im not sure on which one to get. Should I get the iPhone 2G (the original one) or the iPhone 3G ? Please don’t compare it by networking. I would like to see your opinion. Thanks !
I’m currently using the original iPhone, and I don’t have any big complaints. It works great! The 3g network would be nice, but on WiFi it’s really fast, and if I’m using the EDGE network, it’s slower but just the convenience of being able to get online anywhere makes up for it to me.
One specific thing that the 3G has that I wish my iPhone had is a normal headphone jack. The original iPhone has a recessed headphone jack, meaning basically you either use the headphones that come with it, or you have to buy an adapter so that other headphones will plug in correctly. The new iPhone has a normal headphone jack. That would be nice! 
If I were you, though, I’d go ahead and get the 3G. Especially if you’re going through AT&T and want to get a plan and everything. They’ve got the 3Gs in store already, plus they have built in GPS and come in the larger 16GB version.
If you’re looking to buy one on eBay (or some other method, but not through AT&T) then it depends on how much you want to spend. Both are high, especially without a contract, but you might have better luck finding the original at a lower price than the newer 3G.
That being said, I’ll upgrade to the 3G when I can but I love my original iPhone. I think you’ll be happy either way you go.

Okay so I’m going to buy the new instinct s30, but I’m getting it off of eBay..my questions are:
-can I still activate it even if I didn’t buy it straight from Sprint?
-is the instinct only for their new 4g network?

but sprint doesnt except unlocked phones
I don’t work at Sprint, but all you have to do is get an unlocked phone and you can get it to work with your service provider.

I have a GSM Bug that does not accept a 3G sim card. I guess I can use a 2G but what provider has 2G? Or does anyone know how else I could use it? Look up GSM Bug on Ebay and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
does that network still exist?

I am planning to buy an iPhone for my birthday and i am wondering what the iPhone 3g network is. Also if anyone has some spare time could you please find a iPhone 3G 8GB on ebay? Thanks and it needs to be around $100. Thanks a bunch.

what is the difference between 2g and 3g?
I don’t see why not. Just because its 2G doesnt mean it wouldn’t work on a 3g network. It just obviously wouldn’t have the capabilities of using the 3G.

it means that you can only use the data on 2g/edge… it doesnt have 3g support.

Hi all, thanks for your answers in the past.
I am looking into buying a very cool phone on eBay and I am trying to find out if it will work with my MetroPcs account that I currently am using an activated working ZTE C79 phone.
The seller of the phone I want to buy and switch my service to sent me the following answer when I asked him if the phone will work with MetroPcs;
"you could contact your carrier first. If your carrier supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 frequency, then it could work…This is a GSM mobile phone.(not 3 g or cdma network phone) Please make sure your network is compatible with GSM.."
I HAVE ALREADY CALLED MetroPcs and ASKED THEM this and THEY CANNOT ANSWER this question…..unbelievable…they say only "bring the phone to your nearest corporate store and ask them if the phone can be transfer service to.." RIDICULOUS!
I will NOT BUY NOR POSSES this phonw UNTIL AFTER I find out if it will work with MetroPcs.
Do you know if MetroPcs uses the above mentioned GSM frequency as stated by the seller of the phone I want…. GSM 850/900/1800/1900 frequency? Does metropcs support this frequency?
Note: The phone I want is UNLOCKED.

I bought a 2g phone off of ebay. Will it work on Atell’s network?
If its a CDMA phone it will work. 3g is backward compatible with 2g or 1xrtt services.
