Why is my Blackberry Storm not connecting to the 3G network?

In the little booklet it says the service notification on the top right of the Storm will say "3G" or "EDGE" whenever it is in those coverage areas, yet I still haven’t seen this. The browser is fairly slow, at least compared to my friends iPhones. What is up with this? It’s kind of annoying, since I got this phone almost exclusively for this purpose. I’m not getting any different service than I was with my old, text-only phone.

Hit the OPTIONS button from the menu

MOBILE NETWORK

And check that the DATA SERVICES option is set to connect to 3G

I found this problem when I got mine, it was set up for 2G access only, not to roam from 2G to 3G depending on what service was available.

my unlocked iphone 2g keeps saying searching for network… help please?

my iphone is unlocked with a t-mobile sim in it but ever since yesterday it keeps saying searching network but i took my sim out i reset all networks and everything shut it off and on but it stil says the same thing like its not picking up my sim card anymore and idk why it works cause i put it in my friends phone and my iphone is not broken in any way… it says i need to restore it in itunes but then that will make my phone not unlocked anymore right? and deletes all my numbers???

It kinda sounds like something is wrong with your SIM since you said you put in your friend’s own & it worked normal. I suggest taking the SIM to them & explaining your problem.
Actually as I think about it I 1st suggest to try your SIM in a regular T-Mobile phone if you have one available.

If you do restore your phone yes it will loose the unlock & yes it will delete all your numbers but both are easily recoverable with blackra1n & a backup respectively.

Why does sprint think they have good service?

I have an AT&T iPhone and almost always I have full bars. When I look at my friends sprint phone it usually has low bars or halfway from full. Sprint claims to also have the best 3g network but I just don’t see it and what makes them think they can go to 4g!?!? I mean it’s just terrible.

When they say "the best 3g/4g network", they aren’t telling you how limited those places are. For example, t-mobile’s 4g network is only in a couple of small places, last I heard it was somewhere like Baltimore. Also, these companies don’t tell you that they’re using the network of rivaling carriers, so when you think your phone is getting service from at&t, it may really be getting it’s service from Verizon. Don’t worry, this is part of a contract they have and it won’t cost you anything, but it does mean that there are things they aren’t telling you when they make these claims. You have to know what they are basing them off of, and pay close attention to the vague way they describe how they are the best.
