This is a tutorial on How To Jailbreak all devices using BlackRa1n. This is very easy for all iPod Touch users. You couldn’t imagine an easier jailbreak. The iPod Touch 3G is a tethered Jailbreak meaning that once you turn it off you can’t get it back on again without connecting it to your computer and running BlackRa1n again. more info at the bottom.
iPhone users, it is a little more complicated. If you rely on Ultrasn0w for you network connections then do not update to 3.1.2. Don’t do anything just stay on the firmware and baseband that you are on now. If you are on an official carrier then go ahead it’s fine.
What is a tethered jailbreak:-
When you Jailbreak your iPod Touch 3G with Blackra1n it will mean that it becomes a tethered jailbreak. It can run on it’s own however it may need the support of a computer, hence the name tethered. If you device goes off then you won’t be able to get ti back on again without plugging it back into the computer.
BUGS SO FAR:-

GeoHot screen does not appear, therefore, meaning no jailbreak
Maybe a fix for this later…..

I’ve got internet connection, and i was just wondering if for any apps or fuctions of the ipod touch i have to buy or pay a subscription for. And do i have to be receiving a wireless network to be using any of the apps i have? or can i still use all of them when i dont have internet?
The iPod touch comes with Safari, iTunes, App Store, YouTube, a Calender, Contacts, Maps, Wheater, Stocks, Clock, a Calculator, Notes, Preferences, Music, Video, and Mail. If you want games and other applications, such as a dictionary, you must purchase them through the Application Store in either the iPod itself, or iTunes on your computer.
All applications can be used without the internet, unless it requires dynamic content updates, like Maps and the App Store does. Games, and other things that do not require such functionality can be used without the internet connection.
Hope that Helped!

I called the company before (Belkin) and they showed me where to find it, on the router.I forgot the password though. I also wrote it down, but i lost that too. haha. It’s on the back somewhere. but which one is it? I need the password for my ipod touch 2g. I accidentally reset the wifi. Where exactly is it? and what does it start with?
Well its usually a pre-set password like ‘Admin’ or ‘administraton’ or something of the sorts, just google ‘belkin router passwords’
Usually routours have a reset button, you can use that.

Alright, I already have it Jailbroken and was wondering if i need to unlock it. I am with AT&T and i was wondering if i still had to unlock the phone even if i were to use it on the AT&T network. I want to avoid paying the monthly data plan so do i have to unlock it too?
There is no reason to unlock the iPhone unless you are going to use it on another network besides AT&T. Please go to hackthatphone.com for more info.
Also note that it is not a good idea to jailbreak or unlock your iPod Touch or iPhone with out knowing what you are doing and can violate your warranty and/or brick your iPod Touch or iPhone if something goes wrong (which it sometimes does).

Up until today my iPod 2g was working fine on my wireless network. But all of a sudden whenever I try to load a page with Safari or go to the App Store is says that it can’t connect to the internet. It says in the upper left corner that I am connected but nothing in Safari will load or anything. Please help.
sometimes mine does that you just wont be able to use it for a few hours. its just a glitch. let it rest for a while and then you should be good to go.

The network is password protected. And i am 100 % possitive that i am entering the correct security password.
aanndd idk what WEP means but i saw that when setting up the wireless network if that might help at all?
the internet works fine on my computers, jus not on my itouch
i will select the network i wanna connect to
enter the password, and at the top of my itouch it says "faild to connect to "kid5ru13" (name of network)"
any1 have sum idea on how i could fix this?
Hi issy r,
Wow, aren’t these Windows users helpful?
First off I’m not sure your iPod Touch uses WEP for WiFi with your wireless network. Your Macintosh has some Airport software that you can check your connections.
Your Mac also has a cool Help menu that will answer a lot of your questions. The iPod Touch uses WiFi. If you have an Airport base station, that’s what your iPod Touch connects to.
There are a bunch of different security passwords for your Airport, Are you sure that you are using the same one for connecting to your wireless network?
Try going to the Apple web site and do a search for iPod Touch to an Airport Network, and see what their result are:
http://www.apple.com/search/?q=iPod+Touch+to+an+Airport+network
Best of luck.

I want to have access to the Internet everywhere like a iPhone would on my iPod Touch 2g. Is there some network you could subscribe to that would give you access to the Internet everywhere on it.
None.
The wifi hardware in the Ipod Touch is not capable of receiving signals from far away sources. In order for you to gain access to the internet everywhere, it would either have to be through satellite or a far away tower thingy that they sue for cell phones, both of which would be out of your Ipod Touch’s wifi range.
If that was possible, I wouldn’t have returned my iTouch

I was just wondering if it is at all possible to pick up and use a 3g network (internet) on my ipod touch.
Nope. The iTouch does not have the 3g/EDGE chip, so it’s impossible for it to connect to a 3G network.
Hope that Helped!
