it is called the Asus EeePC 4G and costs £200 but i already on a laptop that like 3 years old. plus my house dose not have a wireless network so my laptop will not be connected to the internet.
Intel Celeron M Processor
512 MB Memory
ASUS Linux Operating System
2 GB Flash Hard Drive
7" Widescreen Display
This is the spec for this laptop and to be honest its not worth it i work for a company who sell these and they are nothing more than a glorified memory pen… they only got 512 ram which wouldn’t allow you to go on line or have mobile broadband, I’d save your money and get something with a duel core at least 1GB ram and 120 GB hard drive rather than a 2GB flash drive… yes you can do your work on the go but you’ll find you’ll be bogged down with memory pens that you have to use to free up the 2GB memory on there…..

I thought that mac’s apple computers would be able to use 3G like the iphone does, but i’ve never been able to verify. i also heard that there was a computer that actually broadcasts its own WiFi, is that true?
going to point something out to you
iPHONE, PHONE, CELLULAR DEVICE, used to ring people, text people, an whatever else you wanna do on its limited capacity of the phone
Apple Mac COMPUTER, DESIGNED TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE HARDWARE AN SOFTWARE
if youve got the hardware, i.e. usb dongle from whatever service provider, plug it in, and your sorted
an broadcasting its own wifi, there are computers with wifi cards built in, just how a laptop does, if thats what you mean

READ THIS:
IF YOU DONT KNOW IF YOU HAVE BUILT IN WIFI THEN FOLLOW THESE STEPS AND YOU WILL KNOW.
1. Go into the control panel and click Network Connections
2. If you have a connection there named Wireless networkconnection or something like that then just right click and click enable or something like that, and then your wifi is turned on
If you have done this, and still dont know if you have built in wifi, then post a comment WITH YOUR COMPUTER NAME AND BRAND and i will check if you have wifi and then i reply on your comment.

Wi-fi is okay if your at home or at a coffe shop where they have wi-fi, but 3g network in a Ipod touch would be so awsome!
I don’t think so. 3G on an ipod touch does not make any sense when the Iphone is available. Consider a Wifi device powered by 3G. Its available now at Sprint and verizon. You can have up to 5 Wifi devices at the same time and use it anywhere where 3G is available. Its your own portable hot spot. Plans cost around $59.99 and you can use it for your laptop, ipod touch and other wifi devices. Its the size of a credit card.
Other alternatives to look forward to is a massive wifi Network. Its already available in Minneapolis, MN. The Digital TV transition is opening up airwaves for additional city wide wifi services.

Whats the diff between Ethernet and a 4G network? Is Ethernet old or something? Should we upgrade is it better? Nortel vs. Cisco thoughts?
4g networking is still in development. 3g networking is available now.
Simplified breakdowns:
If you travel all over the country on a weekly basis, ask your employer to get 3G for you. It will allow you to use your laptop any place that a cell phone works. It’s expensive. $200-$300 per month on average. It costs more, the more you utilize it. It is not a flat rate service like your Cable or DSL Internet service at home.
Ethernet is just fine. It works. Most Ethernet is faster than most wireless. My wireless LAN is operating at 300Mb/s. Which is faster than 10/100 Ethernet. Yes actual throughput of my wireless beats 10/100 Ethernet. My wired LAN is operating at 1000 Mb/s. My Ethernet is faster than my wireless. All Ethernet is more secure than ANY wireless.
If you want to be able to carry your laptop around the house without wires, you should get a wireless router. You may or may not need a wireless adapter for the laptop. Most newer laptops have a wireless adapter built-in.
If you have an existing wireless router and it works for you, there is no reason to get a new one.
If you are buying a wireless router for the first time, get an 802.11 draft 2.0 N type wireless router. I suggest D-Link DiR-655. It outperforms ANY 802.11 g type I have tested it against. Including the models that TracyL typically suggests.
Buy the same brand of wireless adapter as the router. If you buy a Linksys router, buy Linksys adapters, and so on.
Nortel and Cisco both manufacture and brand some very well made hardware. For home use Cisco and Nortel are overkill. For small office they are too. For a mid to large business they are worthwhile.
