Correct me if I’m wrong but there’s only been two generations of the iphone… the 1st generation and the 2nd generation 3g iphone. 3G is a type of network… not 3rd generation iphone. So what the hell is a 2g iphone? if there’s a 2g where’s the G(1g) iphone?
There really is no 2g iphone.
The first iphone supported an EDGE wireless data connection. EDGE is the 2nd generation of wireless data connectivity. So some people may be referring to that.
The iphone 3g (which is a stupid name as it confuses people) refers to the ability to connect on a 3rd generation wireless network. so the iphone 2g could also refer to the iphone 3g.

Boston and Seattle seem to be oftentimes compared on the same level for some reason. When you run the facts and numbers on both Boston and Seattle, or (New Hampshire/Mass) vs. WA, the numbers come out pretty close. Oftentimes Boston/Seattle is oftentimes a combo that airlines offer, Verizon has tested their 4g network in Boston and Seattle first.
My question is, which do you think is a better place to live, work and play? It seems to me that both cities share a lot on common, I am just curious to see what people out there think. (And it actually does rain more in Boston then it does in Seattle)
I would say Boston, it’s a beautiful city very historic and has great entertainment.

I saw a …sprint commercial and it said fastest 3g network and now 4G
What is 3G, 4G and what is the difference?
3G and 4G are similar. 3G is on most major wireless carriers right now. 3G is a way of saying house internet speeds. 4G is like the same thing but it goes somewhat faster than 3G. Really, most people wouldn’t notice a difference between 3G and 4G on cellphones unless they are using a laptop connect card to go on the internet on their laptop from the cellphone towers.
3G is fast internet running through cellphone towers. This comes in handy if you have a laptop with a connect card so you can get internet no matter where your at.
4G is faster internet running through cellphone towers. This comes in handy if you have a laptop with a connect card so you can get internet no matter where your at. This is better if your going to sit there and download movies while playing online video games.

Cingular now has 3g network on some phones, what do they do with the former 2g network?
Typically they phase out the older equipment and install new. 2G was very slow in accommodating the data packets that people are starting to use more common place today.
2G uses mostly TDMA or CDMA networks, which originally was an improvement from analog to digital signal, but 3G works better with GSM networks, and GPRS requirements.
Some companies like AT&T/Cingular kept both equipment installed 2G & 3G. But when new towers went in, only 3G/GSM towers were going up. All the TDMA towers were left in place, but eventually people carrying TDMA cell phones, noticed their signal strength was not near what someone else carrying a GSM phone would receive. And then as phones broke down or upgrade new contracts went into effect, the only new equipment you could buy was GSM.

Verizon just lost big in the 700mhz auction, now that they are going to have an open network once their 4G service rolls out, is there any point in staying with Verizon seeing how everyone will be able to use their network for free thanks to google??
Do you think At&t customers will be able to use Verizon’s new open 4G/LTE network??
Ha, I read about this as well, it does look like verizon pulled the short straw in the 700mhz auction, I’m glad I’m not a verizon customer, I don’t know if At&t customers will be able to use verizon’s 4g network but they are all using 700mhz and LTE for their At&t and Verizon’s networks. All I know is that if your paying for Verizon right now your wasting your money while other people are going to be able to use the same service with no cost.
