I go into setting, type in my password(my network is WEP protected), it signs in and gets full bars. It gets an ip address, dns, router, and subnet mask. The dchp tap is selected on my itouch. DCHP is enabled on my router. When I click safari on the itouch the pages never load. I have laptop wifi works on it.
I have loged on to wifi at several hot spots and itouch works on their wifi. My wireless router is a DI-514. My ISP is timewarner. If any body knows why my itouch will not work on my network and tells me how to fix it, will get the best answer.
In addition to all this I have tried anothe router same problem. I did the disconnect and reconnect thing. The problem still presists
In addition to all this I have tried another router same problem. I did the disconnect and reconnect thing. The problem still presists
try unplugging your router for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. That’s all I can think of. at least you know it’s not your ipod.

OK, before you start judging I am usually quite knowledgeable with computer networking but I am stuck with a problem I cannot currently solve. I require a community to help.
Here are the distinct details- I am currently in O2 Broadband (LAN) but they gave me free a Thomson wireless and ADSL router for use with a LAN and WLAN at one home. The router’s specs are…
Interface Enabled:Yes
Physical Address:00:1D:68:0A:41:F5
Network Name (SSID):Amendra O2 Wireless
Interface Type:802.11g
Actual Speed:54 Mbps
Band:2.4G Hz
Allow New Devices:New stations are allowed (automatically)
Security Mode:WPA-PSK.
Simple details for you. My problem is the following- my LAN’s access to the internet is working so not an ISP problem but unfortunately the wireless access (overall) is not computing. I tried connecting to it with variable wireless enabled peripherals, it was detected sometimes but later simply disconnects. The message from Vista on my laptop is…
Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive a response from the wireless router.
It also mentions a low signal to be the problem and I tell you here as evidence my laptop and my wireless peripherals and all placed approx. 5 metres away so shouldn’t have a problem. So why is this occurring?
Tell me if you need more details.
Thanks
Oh My God.
You are a damn genius!
I never thought such a trivial alteration could solve this problem. Thank you so much.
And people call me a computer genius. They are right but thanks for helping me out here!
This was directed towards tonydakid by the way.
10 points at ya, when available
Hi,
A good idea would be to try changing your router’s "Wireless Channel" to Channel 4 (or other) as most other channels are affected by interference from house hold items such as microwaves, wireless phones etc.
If this does not fix the issue try other Channels
I hope this helps.
Edit: Glad i could help =)

I have a 2.4G wireless router at home which occasionally cause the wireless network to go down. If I buy a 5.8G phone, will that solve the problem, or will it "ride" the same frequency ?
no problems at all.

1. dont broadcast ssid
2. create a ssid that is long and alpha numeric
3. use wep or wpa
4. use mac address filter
5. use time restriction
6. use wireless station listing
7. set password to admin
8. change the above once in a while

Whats the diff between Ethernet and a 4G network? Is Ethernet old or something? Should we upgrade is it better? Nortel vs. Cisco thoughts?
4g networking is still in development. 3g networking is available now.
Simplified breakdowns:
If you travel all over the country on a weekly basis, ask your employer to get 3G for you. It will allow you to use your laptop any place that a cell phone works. It’s expensive. $200-$300 per month on average. It costs more, the more you utilize it. It is not a flat rate service like your Cable or DSL Internet service at home.
Ethernet is just fine. It works. Most Ethernet is faster than most wireless. My wireless LAN is operating at 300Mb/s. Which is faster than 10/100 Ethernet. Yes actual throughput of my wireless beats 10/100 Ethernet. My wired LAN is operating at 1000 Mb/s. My Ethernet is faster than my wireless. All Ethernet is more secure than ANY wireless.
If you want to be able to carry your laptop around the house without wires, you should get a wireless router. You may or may not need a wireless adapter for the laptop. Most newer laptops have a wireless adapter built-in.
If you have an existing wireless router and it works for you, there is no reason to get a new one.
If you are buying a wireless router for the first time, get an 802.11 draft 2.0 N type wireless router. I suggest D-Link DiR-655. It outperforms ANY 802.11 g type I have tested it against. Including the models that TracyL typically suggests.
Buy the same brand of wireless adapter as the router. If you buy a Linksys router, buy Linksys adapters, and so on.
Nortel and Cisco both manufacture and brand some very well made hardware. For home use Cisco and Nortel are overkill. For small office they are too. For a mid to large business they are worthwhile.
